ASTM D6962 / 2012 is designed to test the wear resistance and durability of carpet and velvet floor coverings by American Materials Association. The test mainly refers to the relevant standard requirements of ASTM D123 ASTM D1776 ASTM D2240 ASTM D5684. And this experiment needs to use the ASTM D6962 carpet special roller seat tester developed and manufactured by OTS. Alias: carpet special roller seat testing machine, resistant to public chair caster wear testing machine and so on.
The test sample is simulated for a long time by the stress generated on the pile floor by the caster of the weighted roller, and also simulating the actual carpet and the installation of the ground cover which may include a lint floor covering plus a specified cushion.
This procedure is used for the preparation of additional test specimens, including but not limited to visual assessment of secondary backing delamination, visual assessment of the surface of the pile, layered measurement resistance, tufting bonding, and spreading of the pile yarn. This procedure covers operating a weighing wheelchair test device that can be rotated and moved on a sample of a lint floor covering. This procedure is applicable to the test of all kinds of unused suede floor covering.
Standard Practice for Operation of a Roller Chair Tester for Pile Yarn Floor Coverings
This practice is applicable for use in testing the durability of pile yarn floor covering of all types.
This practice is designed to simulate the stress on a pile yarn floor covering from the action of weighted roller chair casters over an extended period of time.
The specimen is tested under conditions that may simulate an actual flooring installation. This may include the pile yarn floor covering plus a specified underlayment cushion.
This practice is used to prepare specimens for additional testing, including but not limited to: visual assessment of delamination of the secondary backing, visual assessment of the pile surface, resistance to delamination measurement, tuft bind, and pile yarn raveling.
1.1This practice covers a procedure for the operation of a weighted roller chair testing device that rotates and moves across a test specimen of pile yarn floor coverings.
1.2 This practice is applicable for testing unused pile yarn floor covering of all types.
1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.
1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
