This procedure has been designed to provide a standard set of tests to understand individual package / product performance when evaluated against several handling conditions. ISTA 2 Series protocols include components of both the 1 and 3 Series for evaluation.
Test Details
Packages will be subjected to the following tests (in order):
1.Atmospheric preconditioning at ambient temperature / humidity
2.Atmospheric conditioning at controlled temperature and humidity levels based on detailed guidelines
3.Compression using one of the following methods
1.Machine apply and release (calculated test force x 1.4)
2.Machine apply and hold (calculated test force)
3.Weight and load spreader (calculated test load
4.Vibration using either fixed displacement (1 inch peak to peak at a predetermined frequency) or random (overall Grms level of 1.15) methods
5.Shock testing based on drop, incline impact or horizontal impact methods. The height or impact velocity depends on the package weight.
6.Vibration using either fixed displacement (1 inch peak to peak at a predetermined frequency) or random (overall Grms level of 1.15) methods.

Individual packaging (non-palletized) weighing 150 lbs (68 kg) or less.

Two standard requirements for simulated transport vibration are:
1. Amplitude is 25.4mm (1 inch, fixed)
2. Frequency 1.5-5Hz (or 100-300 r / min adjustable)
3. The test basis is: T = 14200 / CPM (based on the total number of vibration is 14200 times)
